2026 ICD-10-CM Update: Significant recent advancements in anesthesia and pain management
1. Expanded Specificity for Pelvic and Perineal Pain (R10.2)
Chapter 18: Symptoms, Signs, and Abnormal Clinical and Laboratory Findings, code R10.2, is now a parent code and has been expanded into more detailed subcodes:

- R10.22 – Left side
- R10.23 – Bilateral

This update enables providers to capture a more precise location of pain, supporting accurate diagnosis coding and improved data integrity for quality reporting.

Chapter 7: Diseases of the Eye and Adnexa, the 2026 update introduces greater specificity for eyelid inflammation.
- H01.81 - Other specified inflammation of right upper eyelid
